Introduction to the course

Introduction to the course

Hello there, and welcome!
We are so glad you're here to learn with us.

THE PROGRAM
There are 11 sections, each with several lessons each. Some sections have more lessons because we attempted to keep the videos short enough so you could easily find the information later if you wanted to rewatch them.

The program is self-paced, and you have access to the content for a year.

You don't have to go in order, although we have tried to build the lessons upon one another, so it will likely be simpler and make the most sense to do the course in the order it is presented.

READING REQUIREMENTS
We've given you quite a long list of books. We believe that reading offers insight that listening to videos doesn't, and we want to encourage folks to be autodidacts (or self-learners!) Please choose books you haven't already read or, if you desire, those you haven't read in many years. Owning the books is better than borrowing them, as they are intended to be resources for you and your clients moving forward. However, if finances dictate, borrow from people or the library. That's totally ok too! Allow each book to change you in some way. Find something you agree with, something you don't, and/or something that you can use to make your class, circle, or practice better.

*We do not ask you to turn in book reports; you are adults and we trust that you will get out of the course what you put into it.
If you'd like to share a review with us, or a quote that you particularly loved, send it along and we'll share it on social media.
If you'd like us to discuss a book with you, please email us at rootedbirthmidwifery@gmail.com

PROJECTS
We offer lists of optional projects for each section because after learning by reading and listening/watching, we believe that doing is how people retain information. We also want to encourage (force?) you to head into your community, even if you think you aren't ready. Make connections, find out what's already being offered, find a niche or a possible collaborator etc. The only way to do that is to just... start. Select projects that take you out of your comfort zone or challenge you in some way, or select projects that sound like something that would really help your business or practice flourish.

*We don't ask you to turn in your completed projects; you are adults and we trust that you will get out of the course what you put into it.
If you'd like us to discuss a project with you, please email us at rootedbirthmidwifery@gmail.com

CERTIFICATION
When you verify that you have completed the courses, done your selected reading and projects, email us and we will send you a certificate via email and a physical copy via snail mail. Your certification is a one-time thing, with no added yearly fees.

We do not offer refunds for tuition once you have accessed your course. If you need extended time to finish your course, please let us know.

PRESENTATIONS/CONTENT
We have included a link to view our graphics. If you would like to use them, please make a copy of them as they may change or become unavailable in the future.
You may not:

  • Play our recordings of the presentations in your classes

  • Share our recordings or presentations with educators who have not taken our training

  • Remove our watermarks

  • Use our presentations to train educators or doulas

THESE ARE MY HOURS
Included in the program is a screening license and digital copy of These Are My Hours. This allows you unlimited use of the film in your community for teaching families, community members, or for film nights, etc. You may not use the film as a part of a birthworker training program. That requires a separate license. Ask us if you aren't sure.

THANK YOU!
and welcome, we're happy to have you!
